As a family, we love going to Red Lobster. It is normally my first choice for my birthday dinner. They have some many options and the food is almost always tasty  Yum… crab legs!

I remember going to Red Lobster as a child with my parents. Back then it was a most especially special treat as we did not have a lot of money and did not go out to eat very often at all.

On our wedding night my husband and I went to Red Lobster in Austin on South Lamar. The food was great but I have to say the style of the restaurant could use some help. It was getting outdated and almost a cave like atmosphere. Sure, you might say that could be romantic but I felt more claustrophobic.

I was excited to hear that three Austin Red Lobster restaurant locations had recently been remodeled I was really excited to check it out! I have to say I was impressed with the brighter lighter atmosphere. Well, and the crab legs and the delicious shrimp too lol. Service and the food was as wonderful as always.

One thing as a mom and a pregnant mom at that, we did visit the bathroom. And I have to say, wow! It was large and very clean. It was great. I was really happy about that. I am growing and the last thing I want to do is feel like I have to maneuver my pregnant tummy in to and out of a broom closet sized bathroom.

We loved our visit to the Austin Red Lobster and I hope you find time to visit them and check out the new look too!

I know I am not the only person in the world that has a pill phobia. But even if you don’t have a pill phobia, it is common for morning sickness to make it almost impossible to take pills especially in the first trimester. Because of that, many women are not able to take their prenatal vitamins.

As many of you know I had to take a break from blogging due to exhaustion and horrible morning sickness. So, when the opportunity came up for me to be able to review Premama Prenatal Vitamin Drink Mix I jumped up and down!

Premama is a flavorless, prenatal vitamin drink mix. It is complete with key prenatal vitamins and minerals—including folic acid, iron, DHA, CoQ10 and calcium—that help greatly reduce the chances of some birth defects, when taken appropriately. Premama’s ingredients have also been shown to help relieve common prenatal vitamin side-effects, such as nausea and constipation.

It is really simple to use. You can take it all at once with 12 ounces of liquid or divide it into 2 doses with 6 ounces each, one in the morning and one at night. The packages are  divided already. So it is simple. They recommend using Orange Juice and I completely agree. Even thought they said it is flavorless, I tasted it when I used water.

I would diffidently buy Premama and replace my daily prenatal!

  • Doctor recommended

  • Contains all the nutrients baby needs

  • 100% Natural

  • Coenzyme Q10 to help reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia

Hello everyone!

First of all I want to say I am sorry. I am sorry for being MIA for this past month. It’s not that I have not thought about you guys. It’s just, life has had me very busy. I needed time to spend with my family and reflect on my life and all the responsibilities I have. And basically re-evaluate what is most important in my life.

My Pregnancy

Morning sickness and exhaustion really through me for a loop this time around. This is not my first time, but this is a unique experience to say the least. I have been getting my energy back, but I am still not 100% but then again I am pregnant! Lol, I am now in my second trimester and baby is doing great.

My Work

As many of you know I have a full time day job that I love. I work with the best people! I was just given a promotion and it is an amazing opportunity! I look forward to the challenges ahead and the rewards as well.

Central Texas Mom

In the end, I am 17 weeks pregnant, I have 2 kids and a husband to take care of and a full time job. Something had to give. I only have so much time and energy in the day.

I do want to continue Central Texas Mom. I love it. It is so much fun. But I will have to be realistic about the time I have to invest in Central Texas Mom. I do not get paid for blogging on Central Texas Mom, it is more of a love of the blogging world and experiences it has provided me so share with you the reader.

So, what does this mean to you? Not much, other than I am back. I want to focus on blogging about things that are important to me. And less time on what we call “filler” in the blogging world.

I was recently introduced to the Samsung Galaxy S III phone that had the ISIS moble wallet app installed. I have to tell you, I think this is so cool!

First of all, the Samsung Galaxy S III phone is by far the best phone I have ever had. It is simple to use but very advanced. It takes amazing pictures and has countless features that are coo worthy! Check out more information about the Samsung Galaxy S III phone here.

The Isis Mobile Wallet™ holds virtual versions of many things your existing wallet does- including select payment cards. The Wallet organizes payment cards, offers and loyalty cards in one convenient app on your Isis Ready™ phone. The number of Isis Ready™ places grows every day. Look for any of these icons at your favorite shops for opportunities to use the Wallet.

NOTE: Currently ISIS is only available in the Austin Texas area and Salt Lake City area.

  • Bars
  • CVS
  • Gas Stations

I personally think ISIS is great for mom’s. You have your children with you and you are ready to check out at the store; Tommy is crying and Amy is about to fall out the shopping cart and you are digging in your purse for your wallet. Not any more, all you do is put your phone over the credit card scanner, the light will turn on and you are done! It is so simple.

This also would be a great Christmas gift for the special mom in your life 🙂

Often getting a baby to sleep through the night can be one of the most challenging stages for parents. This is my recipe that I share with my parents that will teach your baby how to sleep through the night. It can be applied to any age during the first year of life.

HOW TO BEGIN
When you bring your baby home from the hospital, start this bedtime routine:
  • Give your baby a bath between 8-9 PM. You don’t need to use soap every day, just warm water. During the first few weeks, while the umbilical stump is still attached, you are going to give the baby a sponge bath trying to avoid the umbilical area and making sure you get his hair wet. When the stump falls off, you can submerge the baby in warm water.
  • Right after the bath you are going to feed the baby.
  • Immediately after the feeding, place the baby in his crib in a dark room.
  • The baby needs to remain in the dark for the rest of the night. If you need to feed him or change him, try to do it in the dark by just having a dim night light or the light from the hallway or closet. Don’t expose the baby to direct, intense light during the night.
  • After 7 AM and for the rest of the day maintain the baby in a room with plenty of day light. Allow the baby to sleep during the day and just make sure he/she is waking up for feedings.
WHAT YOU WILL OBSERVE
By keeping this routine you are going to observe that, after 2-3 weeks, the baby is going to be more consistent at waking up every 3 hours during the night, with one interval of cluster feeding, when he/she is going to demand feedings every hour. The interval of cluster feeding is going to, eventually, move more towards the evening. By about 1 month of age, your baby is going to be fussy, needy and he is going to be predictively cluster-feeding in the evening, between 6-9 PM. At that point the night feedings should be:
– Midnight.
– 3 AM.
– 6-7 AM
You don’t need to create this night schedule, the baby is going to do it on his/her own just by keeping the above routine.
After 1 month of age, if you keep up the routine, your baby is going to start dropping one of the middle-of-the-night feedings, either the midnight or the 3 AM. Your baby is still going to wake up, even when he is ready to drop that feeding, but he is going to move around, make some noises and return to sleep without that feeding.
Eventually, by about 2 months of age, your baby is ready to drop both of the middle of the night feedings. He/she is now going to wake up and stir around twice at night, but he will go back to sleep without feeding. By now his last eating time will be at 8-9 PM, right after a bath, and he will continue to demand a feeding early in the AM, between 6-7 AM.
WHY THIS WORKS
Our sleeping cycle is created around the presence or absence of sun light. There is a whole hormonal system revolving around the light/dark cycle that starts to be stablished after we are born. During pregnancy, inside the mother, the baby is not exposed to the light/dark cycle and the learning starts right after the baby is born.
All parents need to do is create a clear definition of light and dark for the baby. The bath in the evening, right before transitioning to the dark, serves as a relaxing time and an indication about the beginning of the night. With repetition the baby is going to know it is time to relax and go to sleep, in the dark, right after bath time.
We all wake up a few times during the night. Your baby is going to continue waking up just as you do. But he/she is going to learn to go back to sleep after the middle of the night awakening without needing food, holding, rocking or any help from you, if you try your best at putting him down awake and allowing him to transition to sleep on his own.

I remember as a child we did not go out to eat much at all. We did not have a lot of money so it was always a really special treat when we did. I remember going to Olive Garden. The salad was always amazing, the bread sticks are to die for! And it was a dream to end the meal with a big slice of cheesecake for all of us to share. Not much has changed at Olive Garden. They still offer the same amazing food that I remember as a child.

There is nothing better than catching up with family over a great meal. Unfortunately, finding the time to eat together isn’t always easy. The reality is that life gets in the way – whether it’s a late night at the office or a tighter-than-usual budget.

To make family meal time easier, Olive Garden has enhanced its To Go option in Austin, offering families a convenient and affordable way to enjoy delicious Italian food together at home on the weeknights. Olive Garden is now introducing Weeknight Family-Style Meal Deals on its To Go menu (October 22 – December 2), available Sunday through Thursday after 4:00 p.m.

The meal (only $29.95) serves a family of four the following: one of five entrées, like Chicken Parmigiana or Lasagna Classico, garden fresh salad or homemade soup and breadsticks. Olive Garden will deliver the meal curb-side, so you don’t even have to leave your car.

Olive Garden To Go is just one of many changes that Olive Garden is making, as part of its commitment to enhance the value, variety and experience for guests.

Olive Garden also conducted a recent survey of Austin-area parents that revealed new dining trends that lead to the creation of this Olive Garden Family-Style Meal Deal

  • 85 percent of Austin parents said they would like to eat together as a family more than four nights a week, but only 45 percent of parents say they actually do
  • More than one-third of Austin parents (37 percent) said they were more likely to buy fast food for their family after a stressful day
  • Many Austin parents said they struggle to find extra time during the weeknights, but 51 percent of parents said if they did have an extra hour each night they would use it to spend more time with friends and family

In May this year I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to review one of our local The Meat House locations and host a giveaway as well so one of my amazing readers could check The Meat House out on their own!  You can read the review here. It was a wonderful experience, that when I was contacted by The Meat House about the holidays I jumped at the opportunity!

The Meat House currently has store locations in 10 states – California, Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas- with additional locations opening throughout 2012-2013. You can check and see if there is a location near you here.

I received a free range organic turkey for Thanksgiving dinner from The Meat House. It was a little over 14 lbs and was beautiful! All I had to do was call The Meat House and talk to the butcher, I told him what I wanted and it was a done deal! The people at The Meat House are amazing! They are willing to answer any questions you have and take the time to explain every thing in detail if you need.

But, The Meat House has more to offer than turkeys for your Holiday meals, oh no! They have so many options.

  • Turkey
  • Brisket
  • Roast – Bone in, Bone Out, Prime Rib or Top Choice
  • Turducken
  • Ham
  • Lamb
  • Duck
  • Goose
  • Rack of Lamb
  • Seafood

In addition to the above items they also find what you need. At the location I talked to they had Alligator, Emu, Deer and Kangaroo. As long as it is legal, they will find a way to get you the meat you are looking for. If you are looking for something special please call ahead of time so that you know what they have in stock and if what you are looking for is not in the store they will have time to get it for you.

They also have a wide array of sides available that are made in house and deserts from local businesses. From the Austin Avery Ranch location you will find the following desert options.

  • Cakes from Cake Plate
  • Cake Balls from Holy Cacao
  • Bundt Cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes
  • Baklava and cookies from Hotmamas Caffe
  • Pies from Texas Pie Company

I highly recommend everyone go out a visit your local The Meat House and see what your location has to offer. You don’t know what you are missing out on. I love the selection, the staff and also that they support other local businesses!
