I was honored when I was contacted at the beginning of February by Chevrolet, offering me the opportunity to borrow one of their 2012 vehicles for Spring Break. A whole 7 days in a brand new Chevrolet! They provided me a list of vehicles and I did a  lot of research to select the one I thought would work the best for my family, an Equinox. To be honest, before Chevrolet contacted me, I had not heard of the Equinox, but I was thrilled when it arrived. WOW!

First of all, it’s pretty. Yes, I said pretty. It’s an appealing vehicle. Trust me, there are cars out there that I think are ugly. It has a sleek design and the tented windows are a great bonus which I compared by going in this car and then my husband’s car–which does not have tented windows–and could tell a huge difference in the interior temperature! The Chevrolet Equinox was much cooler inside.

The inside was even more amazing. The sterio / navigation area was by far the best I have ever seen in a car. It also came with XM Radio and OnStar. To be honest, the XM Radio was confusing and I would need more time to figure out all the stations than the 7 days I had the car, but the OnStar was so amazing (I will talk more about that later).  You can also control some of these functions from the steering wheel itself which is great. It allows you to change stations or songs without removing your hands from the wheel.

The seats were really comfy. Even my husband, who is tall, had plenty of room to move around. The back seat allowed a lot of room for the kids as well. I am sure an adult could sit in the back seat without any space issues at all. The back area of the car has lots of room for storage too. It’s also a great play area, as my 7 year old pointed out 🙂

The car drove really smoothly. Have you ever driven a car that you almost feel like your are mentally willing it to move? lol That’s not how my car feels, so the Equinox was for sure a luxury. You could just effortlessly drive. Bumps that would normally jostle everyone and everything around, in the Equinox didn’t.

I can honestly say, after having driven the  Chevrolet Equinox that I am in love. It was amazing. From now on, I will always compare my mini van to the  Chevrolet Equinox. I will spend many a sleepless nights wishing I had an one.

Attracts Attention by Design

Appearances are important, and with its sleek lines and rugged details, Equinox will certainly attract the admiration it deserves.

Stylish Accents

Chevy dressed up the exterior of Equinox LTZ with smart–looking accents, including chrome door handles; chrome, heated, manual–folding mirrors; roof rack side rails with bright chrome inserts; and front and rear bright fascia lowers. A little bling is a good thing.

Comfort by Design

Every aspect of the stylish Equinox interior was given considerable thought, especially comfort and quietness. It offers the most rear–seat leg room of any compact crossover SUV, plus other comfort and convenience features like standard power driver–seat height and lumbar adjuster, and even acoustic laminated glass.

Seat Comfort: You’ll Be Sitting Pretty

We know how important seat comfort is when selecting a new vehicle. To that end, we designed the interior in an attempt to make sitting in Equinox as comfortable as — or even more comfortable than— sitting in your living room.

Multi–Flex® Sliding Rear Seat

Not only does Equinox seat up to five passengers, the innovative Multi–Flex sliding rear seat means Equinox can offer passengers the most rear–seat leg room in its class. It travels nearly eight inches forward and back, providing up to 39.9 inches of leg room for your back–seat passengers. When slid forward, you can also gain valuable space for cargo.

Equinox Meets the Demands of an Active Lifestyle

Designed with active lifestyles in mind, Equinox with available AWD is a great traveling companion for a camping trip in the mountains, a weekend of skiing or kayaking. With everything it offers, Equinox gives you the flexibility and functionality you need.

18 Storage Areas

It’s amazing how much storage capacity Equinox offers, thanks to a number of storage areas and a deep center console that’s ideal for a laptop or purse. A pair of small bins in the cargo area are easy to reach, whether you’re a grown-up or a child.

Brings What You Need

Because your lifestyle includes everything from surfing to biking to snowboarding to canoeing, Equinox features an available roof rack. The side rails, standard on LT and LTZ, are factory–installed and the available cross bows are dealer–installed on LT and standard on LTZ. The available Hitch Trailering Package, a dealer–installed accessory, increases towing to 3500 lbs. on models equipped with the available V6 engine5.

Trailer Sway Control

What’s more, Equinox has Trailer Sway Control (TSC), that’s part of the standard StabiliTrak® system. If TSC detects the trailer is swaying, the vehicle’s brakes are automatically applied. When TSC is applying the brakes, an indicator light flashes to notify the driver to reduce speed. If the trailer continues to sway, StabiliTrak will reduce engine torque to help slow the vehicle.

Equinox Goes the Extra Mile

At an EPA–estimated 32 MPG highway, Equinox stands out by offering fuel economy that Honda CR–V, Toyota RAV4 and even Ford Escape Hybrid can’t match4. What’s more, a fuel–saving 6–speed automatic transmission and a 2.4L ECOTEC® 4–cylinder engine with Direct Injection mean up to 600 highway miles between fill–ups. The 2.4L ECOTEC 4–cylinder engine also features an Eco button that allows you to switch to a fuel–saving mode, which can optimize fuel efficiency.
